The Meeker County Jail is operated by the Meeker County Sheriff's Office and serves as the primary detention facility for Meeker County, Minnesota. Posting Bail at Meeker County Jail

Under Minnesota General Rules of Practice Rule 702, bond is filed with the court administrator during business hours and with the custodian of the jail outside of business hours. During business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.), bond can be filed at the Meeker County District Court / Court Administrator's office at 325 Sibley Avenue N., Litchfield, MN 55355. Outside of business hours, bond is filed at the jail.

Under Minnesota law, bail may be set to be satisfied in cash or by sureties. When money bail is accepted, it is deposited with the court administrator. Common non-monetary conditions in Minnesota cases include:

• No-contact orders under Minnesota Statute 629.75, which allows a domestic abuse no contact order (DANCO) to be issued as a pretrial or postconviction order
• Conditional release orders managed by Meeker County Probation, which can include electronic home monitoring and chemical testing
• Conditions specific to DWI, domestic abuse, or crimes-against-persons cases

Surety bonds can also be used. Minnesota district courts accept appearance-only bail bonds from SCAO-approved bail bond agents, agencies, and sureties. Bail bond premiums may be paid by cash, money order, check, wire transfer, EFT, debit card, prepaid cash card, or credit card through the bond agent.

Release cannot occur until all attached conditions are satisfied, even after payment is made. When released, the individual is picked up at the jail entrance.

The communication provider is Reliance Telephone Services, and all services are fee-based with funds added through reliancetelephone.com. Inmates cannot receive incoming phone calls. A voicemail can be left for an inmate at the jail's official voicemail line, 320-434-1240.

Inmates can also send text messages and place collect calls. Each inmate is allowed to send up to 5 free messages every 24 hours to request funds. All calls, texts, and video messages are recorded and subject to monitoring, with the exception of confidential legal communication.

Visitation at Meeker County Jail

Visitation at the Meeker County Jail is by appointment only. Visitors must contact the jail at least 24 hours in advance to schedule. Each inmate is allowed one visit per day, and visits are limited to 30 minutes.

Visitor Rules

• Valid government-issued photo ID is required
• Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and must have prior jail staff approval
• Individuals identified as the victim in the inmate's case are not permitted to visit
• Inmates who have not yet made their first court appearance are not eligible for visits
• Visits may be denied or ended for inappropriate clothing, suggestive activity, being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, refusal to show ID, or disruptive behavior

The court handles arraignments, bail hearings, pretrial conferences, plea hearings, trials, and sentencing for offenses charged in Meeker County.
