Posting Bail for a Freeborn County Inmate
Bail in Freeborn County is governed by Minnesota Statutes § 629.53. Cash bail must be posted with the court administrator — not the jail directly. Bring payment to the Freeborn County District Court at 411 S. Broadway, Albert Lea, MN 56007. The court administrator is Rebecca S. Mittag, and the main court phone number is (507) 668-6014.
If a judge sets a surety bond, you can arrange it through a licensed bail bond agent or agency approved by Minnesota district courts. After an initial appearance, standard release typically occurs between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. that same day. For new arrests, first appearances are held Monday through Friday at 11:00 a.m. before a Freeborn County judge.
If a conditional release or pretrial supervision arrangement is ordered, the Freeborn County Pretrial Supervision program can be reached at 507-379-8787.

Visiting an Inmate at Freeborn County Jail

Note that inmates in the Intake Unit must have had their initial appearance before a Freeborn County judge before visitation is permitted.

The following are prohibited: sleeveless tops, halter tops, tank tops, hats, shorts, miniskirts or mini-dresses, transparent clothing, and camouflage patterns.
