The roster at the top of this page serves as the Clay County inmate search for the current detention population. It is synced directly from official booking data and arranged alphabetically by last name.

The main listing displays each person’s name, booking date, court, and court date. Selecting a person’s name opens a detail window displaying the name, booking date, race, sex, assigned cell, court date, court, and charges.

The online roster does not publish mugshots, booking numbers, bond information, release dates, arresting agencies, or ages. Because the Clay County Sheriff’s Office does not guarantee the accuracy of the online listing, call the detention center at 816-407-3800 before acting on custody, transfer, charge, bond, or release information.

The jail roster is not a court docket. Missouri Case.net is a separate court-case information system and is not a substitute for the current detention roster.

Mugshots and bond records that are not published online require a manual request to the Custodian of Records. These requests are subject to a $26-per-hour research fee.

Posting Bond at Clay County Jail

The court determines the bond amount, bond type, and release conditions. Before making a payment, call the detention center at 816-407-3800 to confirm the person’s full name, current custody status, case number, bond amount, accepted bond type, and whether the court permits cash bond.

To post bond:

• Confirm that the applicable warrant has been served and that the court permits cash bond.
• For cash bond, deposit the full amount through the kiosk in the Clay County Detention Center lobby at 14 S. Water St. The lobby and kiosk are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The kiosk accepts cash only; personal checks and online bond payments are not accepted. The court clerk’s office does not accept bond payments.
• For a surety bond, use a court-approved bail bond agent. General agents must appear on the current approved list and submit FORM518, Form 517A, and a uniquely numbered power of attorney from a licensed insurance company.

Sending Money to an Inmate

City Tele-Coin provides the online platform for inmate-account deposits. Deposits may also be made through the kiosk in the detention center visitor lobby, which is accessible 24 hours a day.

The inmate’s last name is required when making a deposit. The weekly commissary order deadline is Friday at 9:00 a.m.

Inmate-account deposits are separate from bond payments.

Inmate Communication

City Tele-Coin provides inmate telephone, video calling, and electronic messaging services at the Clay County Detention Center. Inmates cannot receive incoming telephone calls.

Family members may establish an account through the City Tele-Coin online portal or the kiosk in the detention center lobby. Video calls and electronic messages or texts are available through inmate tablets.

Visitation at Clay County Jail

The Clay County Detention Center provides free on-site video visitation through terminals in the facility lobby. On-site visits do not require advance scheduling and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Paid remote video visitation is available through City Tele-Coin inmate tablets, subject to tablet availability. Visitation times depend on the inmate’s housing assignment.

• Each inmate may receive one visit per day.
• Each visit is limited to two visitors.
• Up to three visitors are permitted when at least one visitor is under 18.
• Visitors must present a valid state-issued photo identification card or passport.
• Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Visitors must be dressed appropriately.

Clergy and minister visitation is available Monday through Friday from 8:00–11:00 a.m. and 1:00–5:00 p.m.

The Circuit Court of Clay County is part of Missouri’s Seventh Judicial Circuit and handles felony and other criminal cases.

The official hearing notice, summons, docket entry, or court order controls the date, time, location, assigned division, judge, and appearance format for a particular case.

Missouri Case.net provides public court-case information and may be searched by litigant name, case number, filing-date range, or scheduled hearing date. Available information may include case status, party names, charges, final dispositions, and hearing dates.

Public court-calendar information is available through the Case.net hearing-calendar search, the Track This Case feature, and individual division schedules published by the local circuit court. Sealed cases are unavailable, and full dates of birth are hidden, with only the birth year displayed publicly.

Webex is the state-approved platform used for certain remote court proceedings. Divisions 6 and 7 use Webex virtual courtrooms and telephone access for certain matters. Remote attendance should not be assumed unless authorized by the official hearing notice or court order.
